Dreamland
57Dear Readers,
I would like to share some poetry with you. What started out as a song turned into a poem. The inspiration came just as I was dozing off to sleep one night. Hence, the title, "Dreamland". It's that space of time when you're not quite awake but then, you're not quite asleep either. After I had written this, in my mind I could almost hearĀ the ghost of Orson Welles reading it on one of his radio programs. After you have read it, see if you agree.
Dreamland
Close your eyes the time is here
Release your inhibitions and so called fears.
Call up the ghosts of the regimented past
Because the visions they are fading fast.
In Dreamland it all exists
The good and bad in a faded abyss.
Where all reality is a total miss
Time has no meaning and a sense of surreal
Dreamland does however have it's appeal.
Round and Round you're spiraling down
Gentle sleep cloaks you as a gown.
A vision comes forth like a burst of light
Your spirit ascends on a wayward flight.
Once in Dreamland then you will see
Cities of imagination and the fields of carefree.
So goodnight my love and you sleep tight
And try not to let those bedbugs bite.
Tomorrow's a new day and will begin again
Dreamland has lots of beginnings and never any ends.
Off to Dreamland............
